Future Hall of Fame coach Phil Jackson was on both teams as well. In addition, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe added more than 15 points per game for the 1972-73 Knicks. Since then, the Knicks have made just two NBA Finals – one with Pat Riley coaching and the other with Jeff Van Gundy. Bernard King and Patrick Ewing were some of the tremendous players to lead the Knicks since 1973, but neither tasted a championship.
